How to Open a PowerPoint Presentation in Apple Keynote

Apple Keynote can import PowerPoint files (.pptx and .ppt) directly. This website does not generate an Keynote document. Open the original in Keynote, review any compatibility warnings, then save a new copy. Your original file remains unchanged.

Mac

  1. Control-click the PowerPoint file in Finder.
  2. Choose Open With → Keynote, or open Keynote and choose File → Open.
  3. Review missing-font and compatibility warnings before editing.
  4. Use Save to create an Keynote copy, keeping the source file for comparison.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Install or update Keynote from the App Store.
  2. In Files, Mail, or another document provider, tap the file and choose Open in Keynote.
  3. Check the imported document before saving or sharing it.

Windows via iCloud.com

  1. Sign in to iCloud.com with an Apple Account and open Keynote.
  2. Upload the PowerPoint file into the document manager.
  3. Open it, review warnings, and work on the new iCloud copy.

Compatibility checks

Unsupported animations, transitions, media, themes, and slide fonts may be substituted or display differently. Fonts unavailable on the destination device can reflow text. Keep the original and compare important documents after import; do not assume pixel-perfect conversion.

Apple's current file conversion and compatibility guide documents the same Mac, mobile, and iCloud workflows and notes that the original remains intact.
